Double sidemounted spare wheels. Originally owned by
General Motors, Port Elizabeth. Shown at the Port
ELizabeth Agricultural show 09/08/1928. Bought in
October 1929 by a frustrated Rhodesian batchelor,
who was chief engineer of the Rhodesia Railways. He
had been on leave in Port Elizabeth, South Africa,
intent on speding his honeymoon there, but had been
jilted at the last moment. This is apparently the
first right hand drive Cadillac to reach Rhodesia.
Used by the Mayor of Bulawayo sometime pre war at a
School function, painted maroon and black.
Discovered c 1955 in a Bulawayo basement garage by
Denis Standish-White, who had been at the school
when the mayor visited. After another 15 years of
polite letter writing and discussion, the fourth
owner (who also owned a 1914 Rolls-Royce and a 1926
Chevrolet) Paul Walker sold the car to Denis in
South Africa. Repainted plushy pomegranate over
royal brown with off white upholstery and top.
Apparently the car was owned by Alex MacKay around
1973, registered B-3621. Later noted in Germany,
painted white and baby blue.
