One of rare
Atalante, equipped with a roll-back type roof. The
top slides back into the trunk providing an open
driving experience. With the roof rolled up it looks
like a regular Atalante including the split rear
window. Behind the seats there is a hidden
compartment, designed to fit a set of golf clubs. It
is accessible both from the inside and from the
outside through a small hatch behind the passenger
door. Delivered new in 1936, has had a very active
life. Its first owner underlined the racing pedigree
of this luxurious coupe by taking it out in the 1938
running of the Monte Carlo and Liege-Rome-Liege
rallies. It survived the hostilities of the 1940s
remarkably well. After the War it went on an African
adventure to the Congo. In 1988 it was completely
restored, using all of its original parts and the
original coachwork. Today 57432 still has the same
paint-scheme that it wore when it was first
delivered. After its last change of hands in 2001 at
the Bonhams Nurburgring auction, it will be offered
once more at the Christie's auction at the Paleis 't
Loo Concours d'Elegance in the Netherlands on August
31st. Christie's estimate it will sell for 500,000 -
700,000 Euros. 2003 European Concours d'Elegance it
won the best in class award. Sold to Kees Janssen of
the Netherlands.
