Year 1928
Acquired by Kowie Lombard in Rhodesia in 1965. Kowie was farming tobacco near Odzi and noticed the car on a farm he passed through to visit a friend. On calling on the owner, Henry Truter, he was told that the car and the farm had been given to Mr. Truter's father by the Rhodesian Government due to the family's historical ties with Cecil John Rhodes. Members of the family having been employed by Mr. Rhodes as ox drivers. Kowie traded 5 bags of fertilzer for the car. The rear half of the chassis and axle had been given to a local chief who used it as a cart, these were eventually located and acquired. The engine and radiator were found in a plantation nearby. Many missing bits and pieces were acquired around Umtali until Kowie had sufficient parts for almost two cars. The car  was fully restored in time for the 1967 rally from Salisbury to Beira, Mozambique. The only trouble was before the rally when Kowie realised be had installed the clutch plate back to front. This was rectified in front of the Meikles Hotel by the light of a petrol pump. The rally then went without a hitch. Still owned by Kowie, the car is due to undergo restoration again.

Year 1928
Model A assembled in Geelong, Australia. Differences from Canadian models include more use of timber in the construction, for instance the seat supports and body bearers were timber and not pressed steel as in the Canadian cars. Discovered in a country town in Western Australia minus front axle and wheels - Restored in Perth by John Collingwood before being taken to Rhodesia when he emigrated there in 1967. Shipped to Durban and driven to Salisbury and later Bulawayo. Sold around 1977 to Jeff Lacey of Bulawayo.

First photo shows a cavalcade of vintage cars carrying the Mayor and Mayoress of Bulawayo and the Town Clerk during the 75th Anniversary of the City of Bulawayo, lower photo is the car's dating certificate from the Vintage Car Club of Matabeleland. Year 1929
Canadian built car. Originally purchased by a Vicar in Fort Victoria, Southern Rhodesia. It was later acquired by Ian Bull, from whom Alex Atkinson of Salisbury acquired the car in 1964, exchanging it for a blue Mercedes 180 saloon and some cash. Winner of the 'Donas Elviras' rally in Beira in 1965, runner up in 1966 to Alex McKay's 1928 Cadillac. Competed in all the Shell Runs till 1981, car known as 'My Fair Lady'. Also on 1961 AVRR - See 1972 AVRR. Used on the 1964 SAVVA Johannesburg to Lourenco Marques rally as well as the trip to and from the rally. Regulary serviced by Fred & Lionel Hickman of Amalgamated Services in Salisbury. Fitted with a period folding luggage rack at the back to carry suitcases on the long runs to Beira and also a towing hook to pull our caravan. Kept in the original colour scheme, with occasional touchups. Re-upholstered in 1972 and again in 1982 after a disgruntled Cape Town hotel employee slashed the seats with a razor. Taken to Cape Town, South Africa in August 1982 having done 40,000miles. When the car was sold in 1988/89 it was at 60,000 miles. Sold to a car business in Belville, the new owners repainted it inappropriately in gaudy colours (possibly orange?). Colour photo taken on a Fort Victoria Run.

Does anyone know where the car is now?
