Bought by
Mike Hopkins from a small dealer in Grey Street
Bulawayo in mid 1961 for £145. Sold to someone in
Salisbury in 1964 for £27. In 1963 Mike took the car
to Mike Appel (engine overhaulers) in Byo because
the oil pressure warning light was on. They advised
the engine required a full overhaul. This they
carried out but on the final day of their work they
dicovered that the light was still on!!! A new
sensor was fitted and the light stayed off!!
The Hudson straight 8 engine was the most
silent engine that he has ever experienced and the
car often returned 22 miles per gallon on long
trips. |
