Delivered in
January 1958, price £1503 and shipped to South
Africa where it arrived in February 1958. Driven to
Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia, by its first owner,
Bill Carrington (Director of Tuers Diesel Services).
Problems with brakes reported to Jensen Motors, who
shipped out a new master cylinder. Involved in a
rear end smash in November 1960, car shipped to
Jensen Motors for a new back end and axle. The car
arrived at Jensen Motors in April 1961 but as the
jigs for the 541 Deluxe were no longer available, a
541R back end was fitted to the car. Mileage in 1962
noted at 26390. Car arrived back in Rhodesia in late
1962 but the back axle was damaged, the company
refused liability so a new axle was purchased and
shipped to Rhodesia for fitting. Acquired by Dave T.
Clifton of Bulawayo in the late 1970s, colour still
yellow with a black roof. Mileage in 1979 was
71,700. Acquired in 1987 by P. Betton of
Carletonville, South Africa. Car returned to the UK
in March 1991 and was purchased by Mr. Karl Laban in
Sept. 1991. Acquired by a new owner in July
1996, with mileage around 103,000, car resprayed
maroon with cream wire wheels by this stage. car
recommissioned in 2011.

William J. Gulliver of Gulliver Contruction.
Purchased new and owned by Mr. Gulliver till at
least 1998. The car was known to have a bullet hole
in the body. Mr. Gulliver had been impatient to wait
for a convoy during the 1970s Bush War in Rhodesia
and had driven off alone, somewheree along the
journey a noise was heard and on stopping later a
bullet hole was found.
