Lyle 4600 -
350 Chev V8, built by Lyle Matthews of Salisbury in
the 1970s. Space frame with a surtees rear end.
Winner of the Bulawayo 3-hour Endurance race on
three occasions, held the Whitney Straight fastest
lap at Donnybrook for some years. Possibly owned at
some stage by David Tingle. Acquired by someone in
South Africa in 2001 who had the car rebuilt by
Legend Cars of Johannesburg, the car's first outing
after was the Piper 2009 race at Swartkops near
Pretoria where it achieved two first places in its
class. Currently fitted with a different body based
on a Chevron B36 / McLAren M8. Offered for sale in
South Africa around 2010 when it was acquired by
Colin Frost. |
