Make Menominee
History
Year 1917
Imported to Rhodesia for use on the Cam and Motor gold mine near Gwelo (Now Gweru). The mine owner later moved to a farm in Odzi, near Umtali, where he took the truck. Noted at Odzi by a reader of 'Veteran and Vintage' magazine in 1957. Acquired by Hilmer Bosch of Salisbury around 1972 by which time the engine was frozen, steering column and front wheels were gone and it was evident the vehicle had also been through some grass fires. The truck had lived a hard life as the aluminium sump had been repaired and the engine block had been welded up. The back axle and clutch were also badly damaged. Restored over many years, taken to South Africa in 1982, later stored in the Midmar Museum in Kwa-Zulu Natal. When the museum closed down (around 1995) the vehicle was sold at an auction. Believed to now be in Belgium. This is said to be 1 of only 2 of these trucks known to exist and the only one of this size.
