Make	Mercury	History
Year	1947	Sold new by Dulys of Gwelo, apparently in lat e1946, though this is a '47 model. Discovered without its axles on a farm in Gwelo by Eddie Doman, who restored the car before selling it to someone else. Acquired by Maurice Beckley of Bulawayo in 1993. The flat head V8 was shot so Maurice and his son Bruce rebuilt it - They did a fair amount of mechanical work to this car but my Maurice hated it after having to strip the engine 3 times after the engineering shop in Bulawayo who resleeved the engine and apparently measured the cam bearings failed to measure the middle one of the three, relying on the readings of the two outer ones at each end of the block. They discovered the hard way that the middle one is the one that wears out and so after two strip downs and start ups where the oil pressure disappeared when warm, they asked the Ford fundu (Eddy Doman) what he thought. He didn't bat an eye lid and told them to check the middle bearing. Problem solved!  Bruce used the car daily for about two years in Bulawayo around 1995, and also did several long runs in her. Sold around 2001 to Steve Van Vuuren in Bulawayo who resprayed the car grey. After Steve passed away the car was acquired by Brian Christie of Bulawayo.
