In 1956/57 Roy Morris (later Wing Commander
Morris) brought a new silver 356 back home from
Germany, where he did his training. He also
brought in a new silver beetle which he gave
to his father, Geoff (Jumbo), both were LHD.

Originally owned & raced by Dr.
Byron-Moore, light blue, RHD. Ssold onto a Mr.
Alves, a local builder, and replaced it with a
cream 356B. It then went to?, then in 72/73 it
went to John Allen. By then it was painted red
& had chrome wide rim wheels & a 356B
bonnet with 2 vents fitted. John swapped
the wheels with a Mr. Weeks for a standard set
plus hubcaps. John sold the car after about a
year to a Journalist at the Rhodesia Herald -

the last cars produced for this model, late Jan
1989. Delivered through LSM Distributors of
Johannesburg on 28 April 1989. 16 inch Fuchs
alloys with BF Goodrich tyres, Blaupunkt
radio/tape, air conditioning, front and rear
spoilers. Sold to Barry Launder in November
2008, still with original paintwork and brake
pads all round, nileage 49000km.
