The car was
originally supplied to the First Governor of
Rhodesia, Sir John Robert Chancellor. The car was
then acquired in 1955 by Mr. K.B. 'Nobby' Clarke
of Salisbury who bought the car from the Rhodesian
Government CMED sale. At this stage the car had
been converted into a pick-up. Hickman built a
2-seater body, using part of a VW roof for the
rear deck. Later the car was fitted with a tourer
body using the rear section off a Willys Knight,
that was modified by a panel beater from Bill
Wood's Panel & Spray shop, WEVCO. Still owned
by Mr. Clarke in 1970, by 1978 the car was owned
by Joe T. Skinner of Salisbury, offered for sale
by Joe in 1979. Owned by Bill Francis, a farmer in
Umvukwes, later taken to South Africa, last noted
in the Pietersburg area around 2000 with Frans
Hannweg, with a cracked head? Sold on to someone
in the Durban area.
The right hand photo is believed to show the
Imperial before it was rebodied as a tourer.

Noted for
sale in South Africa at some stage on Car &
Classic, located in Gezina, South Africa R225k.
Could be the Blue 1928 tourer noted earlier
She has been dolled up
once in her life, and would nowdays be considered
an older restoration with paper work up to date
and licensed with a 'S' license.
Her paintwork presents
really well, with all chrome and trimmings intact
and in place, undamaged and kept in good nik. The
convertible roof lining is clean and without any
tears or cracks, supported by its easily
maneuverable, steel frame, roof mechanism. The 2
piece fold down windshield is crack free, and the
lights and 'fogs' always being protected by
handmade leather cover. The 4 doors on this
convertible open and close with ease, without any
sagging. The rear cowl mount, holds it spare tyre,
for the 4 original Wooden rims.
With throttle adjusters
on the steering wheel for increased or decreased
fuel, her original straight 6 motor starts on a
quarter turn and idles so elegantly, pulls of
rather smoothly with the 3 speed floor shift
gearbox, keeping the upgraded 12volt system
charged up.
Her interior material
has been redone, using the original steel frame,
and really freshens up the whole look and appeal
of the car, especially the fact that all tags,
badges, clips, and switches are all in place and
in good condition.

Acquired new
in April 1930 by a Mr Gasson from Carsons. It is
thought the car may have been on display at the
second Cape Town Motor Show. This was the second
Chrysler owned by the family, the first being a 1927
sedan. The car had a black soft top, closed rear
quarters and dummy landau irons, finished in
Burgundy with black fenders and winged louvres on
the bonnet. Soon after the purchase the car was
shipped to the UK for a tour there and in Europe. On
its return to South Africa it was used as daily
transport. In 1933 the car was shipped to Ceylon for
a tour there, returning in early 1934. The car was
eventually sold in 1961 to Mr Katz of Katz Motors
for £20, but returned to the family about 6 months
later for £120! Between 1979 and 1981 the car was
restored by Johan Marais. Still owned by Barrie
Gasson in 2015.

This car was
bought new in New York (hence LHD) by a member of
the Reitz family, relatives of President Reitz, who
was governor of the Orange Free State, and was the
daughter of the Chrysler Agent in Durban. In the
1950's Rudi Reitz gave it to Roy and Guy Acutt of
Greytown who restored the car. In May 1964 Dr Frank
Hayward of Johannesburg acquired the car and again
restored it. He and his wife Judy, participated
successfully in many vintage car rallies in SA,
finishing first overall with first in class in the
1964 VVC Winter Rally and 3rd in the 1968 FIVA
Veteran and Vintage Rally from Cape Town to Durban
and. Frank Hayward sold the car to Brett Peattie in
about 2012/3. Sold on through a Cape Town dealer.

This car was
bought new by the Houston-Macmillan family from
Bushmans Neck area in the Drakensberg. The car was
in daily use until 1952, when it was parked off
and stored in a shed on their farm.In 1967, Rodney
F.J. Holland of Durban acquired the car.
Since the car was
complete and in fairly good condition, the
restoration was straight forward, enabling it to
be on the road again in 1969.After it changed
hands twice, Nigel Atherstone acquired the car in
1995. In 1996 it was shipped the car to the UK, to
participate in the FIVA International Veteran and
Vintage International Rally which started in
Edinburgh and finished in Gaydon.Sold to Brett
Peattie in 2008, who then sold in 2013/14 to
Aylwin Stephenson of Johannesburg. For sale with
Brian Noik around 2025

One of a handful
built with division, believed to be the only RHD
example produced. Originally delivered to Sir
Herbert Stanley, Governor of Rhodesia, and used
for official duties, this car also retains a
floor-mounted safe used for the carriage of a
revolver to protect its occupants. Later exported
to Natal, South Africa, where during the 1980s it
is reported to have covered just 1,000 miles, part
of that being on a 1985 post-Vintage Rally
organised by the Border Klaxon Club. Restored by
Eddie O'Gorman of Pietermaritzburg. Imported to
the UK in 1991 and subsequently restored retaining
all the original features, is finished in silver
grey metallic with Royal blue metallic to the
wings, excellent order throughout. The interior is
finished in blue leather -cloth while the dash and
door cappings are wood grained. The dash itself
features square framed instruments and ‘Art Deco’
style chrome detailing and radio front. Weather
equipment consists of a blue canvas duck hood made
from the original pattern and steel pillar
sections clamp in between the front and rear
wind-up windows when the convertible top is in
place. Offered for sale by BCA Auctions at the
Brooklands Museum 2nd June 2005, Estimate: £13,000
- £15,000 - Sold for £12 093. Noted for sale on
eBay Aug 2021, offers over £18,500. Car however in
